Teaching Resource Guide
– A compilation of campus policies and resources maintained by the Center for
Campus Writing Board
– The Campus Writing Board's website provides useful resources for teachers interested in incorporating more writing into their courses as a means of improving the writing their students produce, increasing their understanding of course materials (writing to learn), and helping them learn the genres and conventions of writing in various disciplines. Through the "Contact us" link, the Board encourages teachers to submit questions, innovations, and descriptions of successful writing assignments.

Clickers, which resemble miniature remote controls,
transmit student responses to a central device which in
turn records those responses and displays findings, often
in graphs that indicate how many students selected each
possible answer. Because teachers are immediately aware of
whether or not students understand a concept, they are
able to devote their attention accordingly. Vastly more
effective than asking for a show of hands (e.g., “Does
everyone understand?”), clickers create a venue for each
student to demonstrate comprehension on the spot.
