Dave Eubanks is the Assistant Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence.
He has taught American and British literature, composition, and folklore as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and a Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Maryland , and he has worked as an Intern and an Instructor in the English Component of the University of Maryland 's Academic Achievement Programs. He has served as a mentor to new Graduate Teaching Assistants in the University's Freshman Writing Program and served on the editorial board for the Freshman Writing Program Mentoring Manual. In 2003, he received a CTE Distinguished Teaching Assistant Award.
In March 2004, he joined CTE as Graduate Media Coordinator and began editing Teaching & Learning News. He has organized and led workshops, participated in panel discussions, consulted individually with faculty and graduate teaching assistants, and he develops CTE's Teaching and Learning series each semester.
Eubanks is particularly interested in the ways new(er) technologies contribute to teaching and learning in the humanities, the history of higher education in the U.S., the epistemological expectations of the disciplines, and the assessment of learning.
His scholarship area is twentieth-century American literature, specifically U.S. biography, autobiography, and memoir.
Eubanks holds a B.A. in English from Rhodes College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland.
