Thursday, April 13, 2017 - 10:00 to 12:00

McKeldin 4123

Want to find ways to make your online space more personal and engaging? If so, then this is the workshop for you. We will go through a variety of different topics to personalize your online space, make it more engaging, and foster a better sense of online community.

This course is for any instructor who is using the ELMS space (fully online, hybrid and traditional face-to-face courses) and is interested in finding ways to make it more engaging. You do not need to be teaching an online course--just using your online course space.

This is an active workshop where you will have time to work on your own course with the help of instructional designers, so please bring your own laptop or email tltc@umd.edu if need us to provide you one.

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Record video or audio using the ELMS media recorder to enhance assignments, announcements, online discussion and grading
  • Integrate YouTube video in an ELMS space
  • Identify opportunities for improving the accessibility of course content using the UMD Online Course Content Accessibility Checklist
  • Create a synchronous classroom session in WebX from the ELMS course space

Attending this workshop fufills a requirement for the Launch program.

This event is only open to faculty, students, and staff of the University of Maryland.
